Tiger Kim’s World Class Tae Kwon Do Centers
About Our Founder
Grandmaster Woo Sup Kim
Founder & President
Tiger Kim’s World Class Tae Kwon Do was founded by Grandmaster Woo Sup Kim in 1998. With over 35 years of martial arts experience, Grandmaster Kim is one of the leading taekwondo instructors in the United States. He was a former member of the Korean Tiger Demonstration Team as well as a former Honorary Team Captain of the US Olympic Team at the 2012 Games in London.
Grandmaster Kim continues to be highly involved in the operations of all 7 of our locations. He conducts master/instructor training for our full-time staff on a weekly basis and oversees the student belt testing for both color belt and black belt exams.
In addition, he continues to update and develop the curriculum that is taught in our schools. The curriculum is designed to be a balance of taekwondo forms, practical self-defense, and Olympic-style sparring skills.
Grandmaster Kim’s philosophy is that taekwondo is about self-improvement as well as self-defense. This is evident in our teaching methods. Our instructors focus on teaching life skills just as much as physical techniques. Our team of masters and instructors helps students of all ages and levels gain increased focus, confidence, and determination which they can apply to all areas of their life.
With 7 locations, Tiger Kim’s World Class Tae Kwon Do is the largest provider of martial arts in the Piedmont Triad and Greater Charlotte/Fort Mill areas and has been serving our families and communities for over 23 years.
